Hybrid Kraynova V.N. Blagovest grapes: main characteristics, variety description and photo

The Blagovest grape variety is an excellent choice for growing in European regions with a temperate continental climate and cold winters.

At the same time it gives good yields of very tasty berries.

What kind is it?

"Blagovest" is a hybrid, obtained by crossing varieties of "Talisman" and "Kishmish Radiant". It belongs to the white grape varieties, as well as Lancelot, Bianka, Husayne Bely and Delight Bely.

This is one of the most balanced types of table grapes. The variety is different early or (which happens much more often) medium early maturation (full cycle - from 110 before 115 days)

An important feature of the "Blagovest" as a table variety is its excellent taste and excellent presentation, which it preserves for quite a long time even after difficult shipments. Rumba and Nizin can also boast a great trade dress.

Description of the grape variety Blagovest

The described variety has the following external features and structure:

  1. Bush. Usually powerful enough. It produces a lot of fruitful shoots, because of which it is possible to overload during the ripening of berries. For this reason, the bush must be specially formed, leaving about 25-30 young shoots.
  2. Vine. Usually strong or medium strong. Aging occurs at about half the length of the shoot. Mandatory pruning, which is traditionally produced at the level of the 8th eye of the queue. Short pruning is possible (by 3-4 eyes), with the help of which it is easier to form dense clusters.
  3. Flower. Bisexual, appears on the shoots in the first half of June. On one shoot there are 3-4 inflorescences. Pollination is highly effective, while there is an active self-pollination.
  4. Bunch. Beautiful in appearance, large or very large. On average, a mature full-bodied bunch weighs 900-1200 g, but there are clusters weighing up to 2-3 kg. It has the shape of either a rounded cylinder or a slightly elongated cone. Density - from significant sparseness to a high degree of compaction.
  5. Berry. Usually large and very large, oval (oval-nipple) shape. The standard color is green with a milky or yellowish tinge, with the formation of an amber tone (if the berry is under bright sunlight). Under the dense skin (which is easily eaten) a rather dense, fleshy and juicy flesh forms.

Brief history of breeding and breeding region

This hybrid variety is the result of crossing two varieties of grapes produced by a famous Russian Soviet breeder. Vladimir Nikolaevich Krainov.

Krainov V.N. also brought the grape varieties Victor, Favor, Helios and others.

The very first crossing of the "Talisman" with the "Kishmish Radiant" was carried out in 1995 in the Rostov region. The seeds of the new hybrid gave the first harvest already after 2 years, but the process of formalization of the hybrid form stretched out for several more years.

Of the seedlings that gave the first harvest in 1999, a variety was isolated, later named Blagovest.

Specifications

"Blagovest" refers to early ripening grape varieties. Rip berries closer to the middle-end of August.

During the period of its ripening, the fruits get juicy and very pleasant taste, characterized by a light Muscat flavordecorated with tender duo notes. At the same time the ripe berry, being on the bushes, does not crack and for a long time retains its taste qualities.

To grow it in regions with a temperate climate and quite frosty winters allows high frost resistance varieties.

It is known that this plant tolerates cold up to -22 ... -23 ° C.

The rooting of seedlings takes place, as a rule, without any problems. But from the moment of rooting to the first harvest of grapes, it usually takes 3 years. Thanks to the correct implementation of all necessary actions, you can get very good yields in the future - up to 6 kg of berries from each bush.

Diseases and pests

Experts attribute "Blagovest" to varieties, enough steady to diseases, including gray rot. However, this grape is prone to diseases mildew and oidiumand also often becomes the target of voracious wasp.

One of the most dangerous grape ailments - mildew - attacks almost all green parts of a grape bush. As a result of the disease, shoots, leaves, inflorescences and fruits cover yellow spots, which look somewhat oily. At the same time, a characteristic white deposit appears on the underside of the affected parts. The result of the infection is drying up or rotting of the plant.

To avoid the occurrence mildew, grapes should be planted in ventilated areas, to prevent strong thickening of shoots and leaf mass, to carry out a green garter in a timely manner, to remove dry leaves, trimming the vine, to destroy weeds in the place where the grapes are grown.

It is possible to combat disease and chemical methods, for example, by spraying a bush with Bordeaux mixture as a preventive measure.

The first spraying with a 1% solution is made at the phase of 4-5 leaves. Before beginning flowering sprayed with a 2% solution of the specified liquid. Subsequently, the bush is sprayed with a 1% solution each time after the rain.

Oidium (powdery mildew, ashtray) also affects the green areas of the grape plant, but it is especially "inherited" by berries that either do not develop or (at an older age) crack and dry.

Effective control of this disease involves the cleaning of the vineyard from weeds, bark residues and vine trimmings, thinning the bush and the formation of a ventilated crown. Of the chemical preparations, ground and colloidal sulfur are best suited to combat the disease. The first pollinates the green parts of the plant, the second is used to prepare a 1 percent solution, which is sprayed with the sick part of the bush.

To counter waspswhich, during their raids, eat away the sweet pulp of fruits, most often they use either protective gauze bags put on clusters or special traps (a jar of sugar solution, located next to the bush).

Sweet syrup thus becomes a bait, distracting insects from grapes.

As for anthracnose, chlorosis, bacterial cancer and other diseases typical of grapes, you can find them in separate materials of the site.

findings

Blagovest is a very tasty and healthy variety that will become a real decoration of any table. But he will be able to show his best qualities only if a person is attentive and careful to him.
