Use of pork by ukrainians increased

Ukrainians consumed about 827 thousand tons of pork and meat products for 2016, which is 6.7% more than in the year before last. It is reported by the Analytical Department of the Association "Swine Ukraine" with reference to the data of the Economic Discussion Club. Last year's use of pork was ahead of its predictable level. Earlier, at the beginning of 2016, experts were waiting for it to drop by half a kilogram or by 2.76%, but closer to the end of the year, forecasts changed. On average, in Ukraine, the increase in the use of pork was 7%. As a result, in 2016, the customers menu increased 1.3 kg of pork. While pork "won the market", poultry and beef were dined less than in 2015 (by 6% and 2%, respectively), as a result, the combined amount of meat consumption per person did not change.

It is worth noting that on average for the previous year, Ukrainians better assessed the current financial situation. According to the monitoring agency GfK, the corresponding index was 40% higher than in 2015. Towards the end of the year, the “gap” narrowed somewhat, but last month consumers were more optimistic about their own financial situation than in December 2015. Note that according to analysts of the Economic Discussion Club, meat consumption in Ukraine may increase by 2%. This may contribute to the increase in consumption of poultry meat.
