Ukrainian agricultural exports in 2016 is estimated at $ 15 billion

Last year, Ukraine exported agricultural and food products worth $ 15.5 billion, which accounted for 42.5% of all exports. According to the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, Olga Trofimtseva, Ukrainian exports of agricultural products increased by 4.5% compared with 2015. The deputy minister said that "we see significant potential for increasing exports of agricultural and food products, ensuring diversification of the commodity structure and increasing the share of processed foods with higher value added in total exports." She also noted that the main products of export in 2016 were still traditional products, such as cereals, oils and oilseeds, as well as soybeans, sugar and meat.

Asia was the largest consumer of Ukrainian agricultural products, which accounted for almost 46% of total exports, followed by the EU with 28%, and then Africa with 16% and the CIS with 7.7%. The US accounted for less than 1%, which is unlikely to increase if Trump manages to push through his protectionist policies.
