The export potential of Ukrainian soybeans will exceed 2.6 million tons

In the period from September to January 2016-2017, Ukraine broke a record in exports of soybeans - their deliveries reached 1.55 million tons, an increase of 41% compared with the same period last season, and 19% compared with previous results in September -January 2014-2015, said APK-Inform analyst Yulia Ivanitskaya on February 15 during her report at the international conference "Soybean and its products: efficient production, rational use."

The February forecast of APK-Inform for the export of soybeans from Ukraine in 2016-2017 is 2.55 million tons in order to reach the absolute maximum of oilseed supply, the analyst added. Recall that in 2015-2016, Ukraine exported 2.37 million tons of soybeans, and in 2014-2015 - 2.42 million tons. In addition, USDA analysts have increased the forecast of soybean exports from Ukraine to 2.6 million tons, stressed Ivanitskaya. At the same time, analysts of APK-Inform can even increase their export estimates, given the relatively high rates of shipment, by reducing the forecast for the processing of oilseeds.

From the point of view of the trend in the soybean segment, exports have become more attractive, in contrast to the processing of oilseeds on the domestic market, as the prices of Ukrainian oilseeds and cakes are not able to provide good savings in processing and marginality. In the current season, prices for soybean meal have become less compared to soybeans, and the price spread between soybean meal and oilseeds continues to decline. Thus, if in the future the profitability of soybean processing at Ukrainian enterprises is not restored, APK-Inform will also revise current forecasts for oilseeds and exports, said Ivanitskaya.
