Russian farmers began to fertilize winter cereals

Winter grain crops produce stable yields in the main areas of cultivation and are highly responsive to the use of fertilizers; therefore, farmers in the Southern and North Caucasus federal regions of the Russian Federation began field work for early spring fertilization of winter crops, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture reports.

As of February 22, farmers began work on fertilizing 242.2 thousand hectares of sown areas out of 17.4 million hectares, or 1.4% of the area. At the same time, at the same time in 2016, this figure reached 224.1 thousand hectares. In particular, in the Krasnodar Territory, work began on fertilizing the land for a total of 95.2 thousand hectares, in the Rostov Region - 101 thousand hectares, and also in the Stavropol Territory - 46 thousand hectares.
