How to make a grill with your own hands

In the end, you decide to make a grill with your own hands on your site, but you do not know which one to choose and where to start. Varieties of braziers

The simplest and simplest type of brazier is a box made of sheet metal, located on twigs-legs, at the bottom of which coals are poured. Also in the design can be made holes and grooves for skewers. Brazier from metal

Braziers made of metal - the most common flame structures. This grill can be easily made with your own hands, determining the size you need and purchasing all the necessary materials. For a 30 cm wide construction, 50 cm long and 15 cm deep and one meter high (with legs) you will need:

  • Sheet metal (for boxes) - thickness 2 mm;
  • Metal corner 25 (for legs and reinforcement) - thickness 3 mm;
  • Metal rods (for the shelf) - 4 pieces 50 cm long.

Preparing materials

1. Cut the sheet metal into the parts you need:

  • The bottom is 50x30 cm;
  • Two walls 30x15 cm;
  • Two walls 50x15 cm
2. Cut the corners:

  • 4 legs 1 meter long;
  • Reinforcements for the bottom - three 30 cm each and two 50 cm each;
  • Wall reinforcements - two, 30 cm each and two 50 cm each.
3. If you had a solid metal bar - cut it into rods: 6 to 50 and 2 to 30 cm.

Weld the box

  1. Form a box and fix the walls and the bottom of the future brazier with a welding machine.
  2. Scorch the resulting structure at the seams inside and out.
  3. Clean the outer seams with a grinder.

Weld legs

  1. Connect the corners of the box with the legs and alternately weld the corners.
  2. At a height of about 30 cm from the cut metal rod make struts between the legs around the perimeter and additional between them. Get a kind of shelf of rods.

We make reinforcement for the box

  1. On the perimeter of the bottom of the box, weld the corners, 30 and 50 cm long, and one, 30 cm long, in the center of the box width.
  2. Do the same on the outer perimeter of the box.

Weld handles

  1. Fold two handles from the 50 cm long rods to be able to move the structure.
  2. Weld the handles slightly below the reinforcements.
All that remains is to drill the hot holes in the walls of the box and cut through the grinder with the hollows for the skewers.

Important! On a brazier of this size, make no more than eight cuts for the skewer, otherwise they will interfere with each other when frying.

  1. First, select the place where the structure will be located. In the proposed version of the brazier will be located on the veranda of the house.

  3. Make a couple of rows of masonry according to the drawing.
  4. Having reached a certain height and number of rows of masonry, make jumpers for the woodsman from the corners through the whole structure of the broiler.
  5. Decorate the arch of a drovnik, carving out fragments from a brick that are necessary in shape and size.
  6. Lay a brick overlapping drovnika.
  7. Begin to lay out the subframe, forming decorative cornices.
  8. Squeeze the bottom of the built-in nadrovnik with a refractory mixture or clay and lay the walls up to the height specified by the drawing.
  9. After reaching the place where the overlap of the broiler itself should be formed, lay out the inner walls with a refractory brick, receding from the outer walls, and form a tooth (inclined back wall).
  10. Make holes in the walls for the skewer.
  11. Form the arch of the brazier.
  12. Line up the back wall to the base of the pipe. The back of the pipe should be a bit on the brick.
  13. Lay the front and side walls on the narrowing to the pipe, setting the direction with wooden slats.
  14. Lay holes near the pipe.
  15. Test the design: check the draft and smoke from the barbecue.
  16. Install hangers and skewers. If desired, you can make the valve for the upper part of the structure.
Important! Lay the outer walls on the sand-cement mixture, and the inner - on refractory.
