A high-yielding variety of Lyubasha garlic, which was developed by Ukrainian breeders, this year settled in vast Georgian territories.
“We have transferred planting material to farmers from Adjara,” Ukrainian agronomists note, who work with the Ministry of Agriculture of Adjara in the framework of the project “Promoting the development of high-yield annual crops - garlic”.
A generous gift weighing 48 tons was received by five municipalities of Adjara. This amount of garlic was enough to plant more than 30 hectares of Georgian land with crops.
“Ukrainian colleagues gave us not only fruitful garlic varieties Lyubasha, but also all the necessary minerals, fertilizers and herbicides, which are sure to be useful in garlic care,” Georgian farmers say. “We are grateful to Ukraine for this and look forward to the first shoots! "
It should be noted that this project is financed on co-financing conditions: the Georgian authorities pay 70% of the cost of Ukrainian garlic, fertilizers and herbicides, and the remaining 30% is paid by farmers. It is noteworthy that Georgian farmers will pay their share only when the harvest of "Lyubasha" ends. According to preliminary forecasts, this will happen only in the summer of 2019.
