Yaroslavl region increases crop area by 5 percent

This year, the farmers of the Yaroslavl region intend to expand the sown area by 5%, with the result that they will amount to 306 thousand hectares. Farmers will need to take care of winter crops planted on 8.9 thousand hectares and sow spring crops on a total area of ​​87.4 thousand hectares.

Agrarians plan to sow flax-dolgun on 2.7 thousand hectares, potatoes and other vegetables - on 4.8 thousand hectares. 31.7 thousand hectares of land will be allotted for forage crops, the chairman of the Committee for the Development of Agricultural Sectors and the Introduction of Advanced Technologies Sergey Kamyshentsev said.

So, last year, farmers of the company were able to grow 9 thousand tons of vegetables, and this year they plan to increase their production by 1 thousand tons.

The company has already sown 1.5 million seedlings for the new crop. The region will be able to get a harvest of carrots, zucchini, pumpkins, greens, salads and all kinds of cabbage.
