Due to its unpretentiousness and resistance to major diseases, grows well in almost any climate. Recommended for cultivation in the Volga-Vyatka, Central and North-West regions of the Russian Federation, as well as in other countries - Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova.
The variety has a record yield, about 50-60 tons are harvested per hectare.
Productivity - one of the main indicators of the prospects of growing varieties. In the table below you will see what this characteristic is for different varieties:
Grade name | Yield |
Skarb | 500-600 c / ha |
Lorch | 250-350 c / ha |
The hostess | 180-380 c / ha |
League | 210-350 c / ha |

Taste excellent. The dormancy period of the variety is 110-120 days, which allows the tubers to be stored for a very long time without loss of commercial properties. Low starch content allows you to use it for the preparation of chips, salads, fritters and frozen vegetable mixtures. The variety is moderately resistant to drought, but does not tolerate waterlogging, especially at the very beginning of growth.
By growing conditions is undemanding, but it will be better to grow on heavy, fertile soils.
IMPORTANT! With timely fertilizing with mineral fertilizers - the yield and resistance to diseases increases significantly.

Root crops are highly resistant to mechanical damage. The scar is immune to potato cancer and the golden nematode, almost not affected by wet rot, Alternaria, Fusarium, Verticillus, common and black scab, Black Leg. Resistant to late blight of the tubers, but the leaves often suffer from late blight. Sometimes, ring rot may be affected.
The bush is medium in size, of intermediate type, quite strong. The stem is thick, unpainted. The leaves are small, ovate-elongated, dark green in color, open, with smooth, smooth edges. The corolla is white, medium in size.Skarb launched in Belarus, in the Research Institute of Potato. Registration in Belarus grade received in 1997. In the State Register of the Russian Federation officially included in 2002.
Features of growing
Seed potatoes before planting are carefully heated in the sun (2-3 weeks). In no case can the tubers be cut, so small or medium root crops are better suited for sowing.
Depth of landing - no more than 10 cm. After the emergence of the first shoots it is necessary to hold a high hilling Repeat potatoes spud shortly before flowering.
Shoots germinate slowly and unevenly. Further, the tops grow more intensively and the crops are leveled. Care is regular weeding and loosening the soil. Skarb responds well to organic fertilizer before planting. Planting density is 45-48 thousand units / ha.
To control weeds and the desired level of humidity, you can use mulching, during dry periods will not interfere with watering.
IMPORTANT! Before storing, potatoes are gradually cooled to t + 1 + 3 C.
In the cellar, it is desirable to maintain a constant temperature (+ 2 + 5 C) and air regularly. Subject to these conditions, the crop will overwinter without loss.
The main advantages of Skarb include:
- very high yield;
- excellent keeping quality;
- resistance to most diseases;
- excellent product and taste properties.
The disadvantage is the tendency to late blight of the leaves. Can be attacked by the Colorado potato beetle and wireworm.
Diseases and pests
Late blight can be recognized by the appearance of brown spots on the lower leaves with a light border. At the first signs of the disease helps spraying copper sulphate, Bordeaux mixture. For the prevention of phytophthora can be pollinated planting potatoes with wood ash.
The wireworm damages the roots and stalks of the plant. To prevent its occurrence, it is necessary to carefully dig up the soil before planting, loosen, weed and lime.
How to deal with a pest with wireworm you can see in this video:
Against the Colorado beetles and their larvae can be used as chemicals (Aktara, Taboo, Corado, Prestige), and biological (Fitoverm, Bitoksibaktsillin, Boverin), and folk remedies. Well helps timely hilling, weeding, loosening the soil.
Skarb potato is not in vain popular with amateur gardeners. He is unpretentious in care, well kept and has a lot of advantages. Perfect for growing at their summer cottage.
