State support of Ukrainian farmers will help increase agricultural production

State support for small and medium-sized farmers will allow Ukraine to increase agricultural production by nearly 10 million tons per year, said Taras Kutovoy, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food. According to him, the Ministry declares that there are agricultural small and medium agricultural enterprises that should dominate the structure of state support. Thanks to the support, farmers will come to the level of profitability of large holdings. According to the minister, last year 66 million tons of grain were produced in Ukraine, which was a record high, almost 6 million tons more compared to the results in 2015.

Farmers cannot really compete with large holdings - large players have a wide coverage of high-performance equipment, modern technology, etc. But farmers can be successful in producing alternative crops or organic production. Large companies will not work in such sectors, Kutovoy added.
