How to carefully cut the lawn?

Smooth grass on a bright lawn is an ideal that many owners of homestead and dacha plots are striving to achieve. However, not everyone can cope with the "haircut", and the reason for the failures often lies in the wrong selection of lawn mowers.

Features of modern lawn mowers

The technique for cutting grass, including weed, has several groups designed to work in different areas. The most powerful models, which can be attributed to the number of professional and semi-professional, can easily cut off the strongest stems, handle large areas, despite the peculiarities of the relief. These lawn mowers usually run on gasoline, which increases operator mobility.

Models of average power are also able to handle uneven areas overgrown with weeds, but with this technique you will have to spend more time and effort.

Low-power products (gasoline or electric options) are designed for a dry, flat lawn with soft grass, which should be cut from time to time. In this case, the main thing is not to miss the cutting time - high stems quickly grow coarse and resist knives.

What to look for when choosing a lawnmower:

  • type of movement (portable or wheel);
  • deck material (plastic, aluminum, steel);
  • grip width;
  • cutting height, possibility of adjustment.
For a small area suitable for low-cost model with a plastic deck and medium grip (30-40 cm). Lawn mowers cannot be used on lawns, as it will not be able to ensure even and neat mowing.

Where does the mowed grass go?

In most models, cut grass is immediately thrown away (from the side or from behind). After swathing, it will be necessary to collect it with a rake and remove it from the lawn - for example, into a compost pit.

Some lawn mowers have a special collection box, making maintenance of the treated lawn much easier. The collection box can be hard or soft (the first option is more convenient).

More expensive models are equipped with the function of mulching, when the cut grass is crushed and remains lying on the lawn. This is an easy and convenient way to dispose of waste at the same time. Mulching is recommended for lawns with soft, low grass, otherwise even shredded stems form untidy heaps and will rot for a long time.

Well-groomed lawn - the result of regular work, timely mowing and watering. Do not deviate from the intended goal, and soon your site will become really like the picture.
