In Iran, this year, October 12, the export of tomato pasta was officially banned. This decision was issued by the Ministry of Industry of the country.
However, the ban has now been lifted. According to the Ministry, the cancellation is valid until further notice. The reason for lifting the ban was a letter from the Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade, Reza Rahmani. Which he sent to the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran. In particular, the letter says that Iran has long been known on the world stage as the leader in growing tomatoes and producing products from them. This enables processing workers to fully justify the demand for tomato products, which are popular in Persian dishes, within the country.
"Yes, it is not a secret for Iranians that the increased export volumes of tomatoes and their products over the past few weeks, especially to Iraq, are intended to increase profits in the context of the critical depreciation of the country's national currency. - Minister Rakhmani emphasizes. - And analysts' information indicates that retail prices for pasta rose by more than 225% in a month compared with the same period of 2017. "
In order to reduce the prices of pasta from tomatoes in the country, the Minister recommended to resume exports at least for a while in order to stabilize the situation in the domestic market and to consider further actions to resolve the situation.
