Russian farmers raise carrot prices

Carrot remains the most popular vegetable of the traditional borsch set on the Russian market, EastFruit experts said.

Today, the cost of carrots has increased by 16% compared with the end of the last working week. Carrots in Russia began to go up in early April. At the same time, the pace of its sales over the past two weeks has also increased.

In general, farmers have already sold off all the carrots previously deposited. And the majority of large farms ship the product only on pre-concluded contracts.

Today, high-quality carrots are offered at 17-30 rubles / kg ($ 0.26-0.47 / kg), which is 16% more expensive than in the last days of the last working week. Prices for carrots continue to grow, even despite the large supply of foreign vegetables, the cost of which is also not small.

So, carrots of production of Israel cost much more, than domestic. Its cost in some places reaches 50 rubles / kg ($ 0.78 / kg). It is worth noting that the current prices for carrots in Russia have already exceeded last year's prices for the same period in 2018 by 41%.
