The birthplace of many dragon is Africa, some of them were first discovered in Central America. Dracaena species have more than 60 items, and some of them received their names due to their unusual forms. Fans of indoor floriculture attracts dracaena with its various exotic forms.

Dracaena sander

Origin: tropical regions of Africa.

This species of draceni is often sold as Chinese plants, although Africa is their birthplace. Usually on the trunk of several shoots (an odd number), in appearance very similar to bamboo. It is the most popular type of home dratsen.

Important! It is because of the resemblance in the stores that this type of draceni is often sold under the name "Lucky Bamboo", although it does not belong to the bamboo species.

Fragrant dracaena got its name due to the specific fragrant smell of flowers. True, this plant blooms quite rarely. The structure is also specific: a thick stem, and leaves as wide as 10 cm. The color of the leaves can be either monochromatic or variegated (depending on the variety), with various stripes in size.

Almost all species, especially fragrant dracaena, moisten the air in the room well thanks to large leaves. At home, it can grow to two meters in height. The leaves have a bright green color, with a silver-gray stripe along the middle, and the flowers are white and have a fragrant aroma.

In place of fallen leaves on the trunk, scars form over time. At home, it grows up to three meters in height.

The main distinctive feature of the marginate dragonse is leaf coloring: the base is green, and at the edges they are decorated with a reddish-purple border. For this, it is often called the dragon drained edged.

This species has gained wide popularity due to the fact that the main stem of the plant can be divided into three shoots, quite often in this form it can be found on store shelves.

Dracaena Godsef

Origin: West Africa.

Dracuena Godsef is quite different from his fellows. It is short and grows only up to 60 cm in height. Its other name, which can also be found quite often, is dracaena surculose.

The plant looks like a bush, the leaves are oval, pointed at the ends. The base has a dark green color, and the top is covered with specks (cream or gold).

Dracaena bent off

The name of this species was due to the bizarrely curved arcuate leaves. The base of the leaf is expanded, because of what it seems that the leaves cling to the stem.

According to the structure, they are leathery, of a lanceolate form, though the veins are small, but pronounced, and the leaves can reach 16 cm in length. At home, this species practically does not bloom. The flowers are small, white.

Dracaena golden

Origin: West Africa.

This dracaena is considered the most beautiful ornamental deciduous plant. The flower can reach a height of two and a half meters. Stems tightly wrap wide (up to 14 cm) leaves ovoid. They are pointed at the ends, with yellowish-green stripes, and across the sheet are stripes of dark green or silver-gray color.

Because of leaves so colored, Dratzenu Golden is often called zebra. The reverse side of the sheet has a pale red color. This dracaena grows rather slowly, so that decorative compositions with its use will remain in their intended form for a long time.

Dracaena Hooker

Origin: South Africa.

If there is not enough light in your room, then the Hooker dracaena will suit you perfectly as a houseplant, since it is not particularly demanding of light. It grows up to two meters in height, while the trunk sometimes forks.

This dracaena has green monophonic leaves. In order for it to show its decorative qualities in the best way, the Hooker dragon seed should be planted in groups of 3-4 plants. The foliage is quite dense and much thicker than many other types of dragon flowers.
