The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia will allow the use of milk from leukemic cows

The Russian Agricultural Administration plans to allow the use of milk from leukemic cows for the production of dairy products. The decision to make appropriate changes to the technical regulation on "food safety" may be made soon. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, this issue is now being discussed with other members of the Eurasian Economic Union. According to experts, heat treatment makes milk from leukemic cows safe for consumers. It can be used for the production of dairy products from processed milk.

It is worth noting that today, manufacturers can use milk and cream only from pure cows from farms that have not had any infectious diseases, including viral leukemia, for at least 12 months. "We must certainly fight viral leukemia. And the Ministry of Agriculture is working on this rule. But it is impossible to screen and replace unhealthy cows in such a short period of time. In addition, this will require significant additional subsidies from the state and the household" reports the management of agriculture.
