Infected grain was detected in five regions of Ukraine

According to the press service of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, on several farms in Volyn, Kiev, Kirovograd, Rivne and Cherkasy regions there have been cases of contamination of feed grain and seed by collar pests. Low air temperatures protect from further spread of pests. The study revealed about 1-3 collar weevils in a kilogram of bread, from 1 to 4 flour-coated beetles, 2-5 larvae of the mill moth and 5-10 flour mites. Proven grain showed that insects infected 8-13%, maximum 28-31% of grain.

At the same time, according to the inspectors, in well-equipped storage facilities in other areas, the grain of wheat, barley, oats, peas, triticale and maize is clean and free from pests.
