Quail eggs are valued much more than chickens, so many of our compatriots willingly take on such a difficult task as breeding quail. This process has many nuances, but the main point of interest to any breeder was and remains a question of productivity. Unlike chickens, quails - skorospelki and the first testicle is given at the age of 35-40 days. Most often this process occurs in the second half of the day (sometimes after sunset), although there are species that prefer to rush immediately after feeding. The peak productivity of females accounts for 3-6 months from the beginning of egg-laying. After 10 months of life, productivity gradually decreases, but stops completely only after 2.5 years of bird life.

In the most "productive" months from one individual can be obtained in 30 days for 25-26 eggs, and with age their number decreases to 7-8.

Important! The performance of the breed is significantly affected by the breed of the bird and the conditions of its maintenance. Thus, the "Japanese" can set aside 2 pieces per day, while quails of domestic breeding will please their breeders with a maximum of one testicle per 1-2 days.

It turns out that under good conditions of keeping one female should carry about 300 pieces per year, but again - these are approximate figures, depending on many factors.

Quail egg weight

Given the small size of quail eggs, it is not necessary to hope for their great weight. On average, the mass of one does not exceed 10-13 g, but some breeds are also famous for larger specimens: for example, the Manchu golden quail can please its owners with 16-gram eggs.

In comparison with chicken, they are much smaller, so that one “big” one will have to take 4-5 “small ones”. Of course, all these are only physical calculations; as far as benefits are concerned, only three quail eggs against one chicken can serve as an equivalent substitute.

The shell of chicken eggs is much thicker and has a greater effect on the total weight. The "skin" of quail products is lighter, so when cleaning one egg will lose only 1.5-2 g. In the boiled state, the original figures remain almost the same.

Egg composition

This food product is considered one of the most valuable sources of nutrients. In comparison with the eggs of other birds, there are much more important compounds for humans, as well as macro and microelements. To verify this, just look at the composition (calculated per 100 g):

  • proteins - 12.7 g;
  • fats - 11 g;
  • carbohydrates - 0.5 g;
  • iron - 404 mg;
  • copper - 17 mg;
  • calcium - 76 mg;
  • phosphorus - 213 mg;
  • cobalt - 620 mg;
  • carotenoids - 670 mg.

Important! Despite the popular belief, you should not eat purchased quail eggs raw. The high body temperature of these birds does kill a lot of harmful microbes, but not all. For example, the virus of pullorosis is transmitted through this product, so you should not ignore the heat treatment.
